Athletes to compete in NPC RipTide Classic

BAY COUNTY, FL. (WMBB) – Athletes from across the country will compete in the NPC Riptide Classic on Saturday.

Check-ins took place on Friday night at The Homewood Suites by Hilton in Panama City Beach.

Athletes had their heights and weights taken and got spray tans. They will compete in several categories including bodybuilding, physique, figure, wellness, and bikini.

Competitors had a nearly 20-week prep leading up to the competition. During that time, they follow very strict diet and workout regimens to achieve their desired physique.

Riptide Classic promoter Mike McKinney says he’s excited to see the packages athletes bring to the stage.

“These athletes that are getting up on stage, many of them have children, they have their jobs that they’re working already, and when you throw that additional training in and posing practice and food prep and with that, it is definitely a commitment. These guys, men, and women, are working really hard to achieve this conditioning,” NPC Riptide Classic Promoter Mike McKinney said.

The competition will be held at Bay High School in the Barbra Nelson Fine Arts Center. Prejudging begins Saturday at 9 a.m. and the evening show begins at 5 p.m. For ticket details, click here.
