A circa-1890 Brighton house re-imagined as a family sanctuary and art gallery-like home is in the frame for a new owner.
The five-bedroom residence at 8 Oak Grove is for sale with a $4.8m-$5.2m price guide.
Kay & Burton Bayside’s Tony Ryan said that about a decade ago, the owners asked Pleysier Perkins Architects to design a renovation for the double-fronted abode, which remained sympathetic to its Victorian-era roots and optimised its northern orientation to let plenty of sunlight inside.

“The renovation included a complete rebuild of the back of the house to transform the main living zones and master suite,” Mr Ryan said.
“The owners have a real penchant for art and this home has provided them the perfect backdrop to showcase their beautiful collection.”
Beyond the entrance hall lies a series of rooms, some of which have their own fireplace and 3.65m-high ceilings, including the home office and guest bedroom.
The living area features a centrepiece recessed window showcasing an internal courtyard.
Double-glazed windows span both storeys and there’s three voids in the open-plan kitchen and dining area.
The kitchen contains two Miele ovens and an induction cooktop, Liebherr appliances, a marble splashback, island bench with a Zip Tap, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and butler’s pantry.
Sliding floor-to-ceiling doors open to the backyard, home to a solar-heated pool and outdoor shower.

Remote-controlled louvres cover the outdoor entertaining area with an outdoor fireplace and built-in gas barbecue.
The home has been the perfect entertainer – hosting both intimate dinner parties and large family celebrations – thanks to its spacious living areas, alfresco dining space, and inviting outdoor amenities,” Mr Ryan said.
The main bedroom has views of an internal garden and adjoins a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite with underfloor heating and stand-alone soaker bath.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms have Velux skylights and built-in wardrobes, a bathroom and separate toilet.
A Bose surround-sound system, ducted cooling, hydronic heating and laundry including a dedicated drying cupboard add to the appeal.
Oak St is a short walk to North Brighton train stations, schools, the beach and Martin and Bay St’s bars, shops, restaurants, and cafes.
“The location is hard to beat, our vendors have particularly enjoyed weekend picnics at the nearby Kamesburgh Gardens, their favourite coffee spot is North Rd cafe, and the picturesque ‘Golden Mile’ foreshore is the perfect spot for a stroll,” Mr Ryan said.
Expressions of interest will close at 5pm on May 14.
