Forgotten Coast Brewery's grand opening marks new chapter for Mexico Beach

MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – Hundreds showed up to celebrate the grand opening of the Forgotten Coast Brewery in Mexico Beach.

This is only the second sit-down restaurant in Mexico Beach since Hurricane Michael nearly 6 years ago. It’s the newest business owned by Forgotten Coast Hospitality, the same folks planning to rebuild Toucan’s, which was destroyed by Michael.

The brewery has seven different beers made in the 50-barrel brewery. You can pair your beer with beach tacos, custom pizzas, and ‘Highway 98’ wings.

They got some help from other Panhandle breweries, like Civic Brewing Co., and home brewers from the Tallahassee beer society. Management said it’s been a team effort.

“As someone who’s lived in Bay County since 2000, that’s a big deal for me, and I certainly live through the busy hurricane season. So I know what that feels like. But what it really means is showing up to work every day, knowing that we’ve hired and employed people in this area, not only offering another amenity to this area, but it’s the work community we’ve got here inside these four walls as well,” Forgotten Coast Brewing Company Lead Brewer Steve Wells said.

Forgotten Coast Brewery is open seven days a week. You can find a link to their menu and hours here.
