Freeport man facing charges after drowning cat at Grady Brown Park

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – On Wednesday afternoon, a Freeport man was arrested at his home after allegedly drowning a cat at a nearby park.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Walton County Animal Services responded to a report of a suspicious incident involving a cat at Grady Brown Park in Freeport.

When officers arrived they found a dead cat in a trap that appeared to have been purposely thrown and drowned in the water, officials said.

Witnesses say they saw Britton Wayne Bush, 47, walk through the park carrying the trap with the cat inside. Once witnesses saw him leave without the cat they notified authorities.

Deputies said they arrested Bush at his home on Wildwood Drive in Freeport and transported him to the Walton County Jail where he is being charged with felony animal cruelty.
